Confused foreigner

I have a question for all the Serbs out there reading my blog:

Who actually likes turbofolk?

I am mystified by the continued existence of this music form when I haven't met anyone who will fess up to actually enjoying it. The only people I know who listen to it are the bus drivers (which is unfortunate for those of us who rely on buses to get around). Everyone else just talks about how bad it is.

Any thoughts?

Well, I'm sure the people who are reading your blog as well those you know in person don't like turbofolk. Anyway, the whole picture of Serbs liking turbofolk is a bit exaggerated. Sure there are a lot of "normal" ones who listen pop, rock, house etc. The problem is, they are not enough "loud" as turbofolk-lovers. :(

There are so many turbofolk-lovers in Serbia, I think that they don’t speak English (at all, or well enough), so you hadn’t honor of meeting them!

so you think you can judge what is "turbofol" and what is not, and you are just couple of moths in Serbia...?

imagine if some Serb is in USA and try to find the difference between country music, bluegrass, tex-mex, etc...

theres not much of turbofolk anymore, and even all of it are not of the same quality.

infact, here in Serbia, we can listen to lot of crappy music from USA /Michael Jackson you included in your list,eh? So you will play his song in public library? How bad could be music of child-abuser comapred to some "turbofolk"?
I will always take turbofolk if I must choose between M.Jackson and turbofolk.
Also, mind you, theres much more "turbo-country" and quasi-rock and stupid heavy metal music in USA than
tiny turbo here in Serbia.
So re-think and dont play Michael Jackson, OK?

I'm not that sure where the line goes between Turbfolk and just regular folk. However, I do prefer the folk music on the radio to the local rock/pop whenever I'm down in Serbia.
